Now we are in a lockdown in the Uk & non essential businesses have been asked to close, orders are currently on pause.
Literally this means that no ready to wear orders can be placed from the online shop for headpieces and hats until further notice and the checkout is currently closed & disabled and also that no orders are currently being sent out.
Bespoke orders are a little different & slightly in limbo, as a lot of bespoke orders can be done online and remotely. So for more info please click on read more.
NEW feature post on behind the scenes. This month a lesson in paraphrasing.
I wasn't sure if I was going to talk about this. But as writing my newsletter this morning I realised it was something we should be aware of in today's society. Especially in light of a really heartbreaking suicide at the weekend, that completely broke my heart as it didn't need to get that far.
The Colour Lilies are a collection of made to order headpieces, designed to be an alternative to sculptural and larger millinery, for those occasions when you just don't want to wear a bigger hat, have already spent too much on your accommodation & travel, or if bigger hats just aren't your bag!
They come in a range of styles and each petal can be custom chosen to match your outfit. In terms of waste they are also really sustainable as each petal only uses a small square of fabric. It also means I can work with dressmakers using their waste and offcuts from pattern cutting, using up every tiny bit of fabric.
Introducing The Lace Book!
The bridal veils are now under the collection name The Lace Book. They have been completely re jigged and are hopefully more transparent for anyone enquiring and finding out all they need to know before getting in touch. There is a new pricing system and lace samples have their own album on the website to peruse.
Where does Jen Levet Millinery exist next to The Capalog?
The Capalog was launched as a sister and diffusion brand on 1st July 2019..
SO now the dust has settled a little and it's gotten a bit of rhythm (touch wood!) what does that mean in terms of the main millinery brand? I have definitely confused a lot of peeps by this! And trust me it has bewildered me a little to figure out too! Not to mention there's not enough hours in the day to do everything, so something's gotta give! What is next for JLM??

First up, buckram and a little bit about how one of the main materials in millinery can be used!
Pencil it in the diary! The last weekend in May, 25th-27th from 10am-5pm each day including monday, the studio will be opening for Saltaire Inspired's Art Trail that takes place each year.
There will be hats & headpieces to try on & buy. Also hat blocks & materials out to have a nosy at & find out more about how hats are made.
This year there will also be guest artists exhibiting such as Xanthe Prints and maybe one or two more.. (we don't know who yet, I'm not being coy!)
Gift Card section now live for last min Christmas presents!
Now that the last post has gone for Christmas day there is only one option left for last min buying.
You can find gift cards under the collections tab at the top! These are all available to email once purchased, so all you have to do is print them off & pop in a card.
Something has been bugging me for ages. Millinery and the arts are great, but I couldn’t just spend my life talking about hats and fashion and design & well things I’ve designed.
BUT & a big massive BUT HOW DOES THIS HELP OR CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE WORLD??
How can a milliner bring mental health into a fashion label & make a valuable difference?
